Celebrating World Book Day 2019

Everyone at The Firs had a fantastic and memorable day!

The day started with an assembly, where some children and the staff shared what characters they had come as. We also looked at who we read with, when we can read and where. We have launched our Extreme Reading Challenge today too, so we are sure to hear about some amazing places where our children read soon!

The children were very excited to come dressed as their favourite character and see the staff were dressed up too! They had a fantastic time all day, enjoying World Book Day activities in their classes.

Year 4, The Fantastic Mr Fox and Mary Poppins

Year 3, The Christmas Unicorn

Year 1, Paddington Bear, who had already eaten his marmalade sandwich.

In addition, the children loved the reading sessions with the many parent volunteers who joined us in the hall, during the day, to share the children's books. Thank you to all our volunteers, for doing such an amazing job today!

Thank you to all the staff for entering into the spirit of the occasion so fully and to all the parents and carers for your support in finding costumes for the children, it has all helped to make the day so memorable for them.

You can see lots of pictures from the day in our pictures gallery.
