Year 2 Visit to Shuttleworth Swiss Gardens
We would like to thank all of our amazing adult helpers for being so supportive and helpful.
Year 2 had an absolutely incredible trip to Shuttleworth Swiss Gardens this Wednesday, with the weather helping immeasurably to make it a memorable day!
The children were able to explore the gardens on a woodland walk, as well as identifying birds using specialist birdsong apps. In addition to this they tried pond-dipping and explored the Swiss Garden grotto, whilst learning about how to classify plants.
We got to see and feel a 'monkey tree', which we learned is very prickly, and therefore provides an excellent habitat for insects who would like to avoid being eaten by birds!
One of the highlights of the trip was a ride in a 1923 bus, where we enjoyed views of the estate, as well as seeing a Spitfire being reversed out of one of the hangars. The children were literally squealing with delight!
We would like to thank all of our amazing adult helpers for being so supportive and helpful. We hope that they all enjoyed the day as much as we did, because it really was a day to remember.
