Coronation Day at The Firs
On Friday, 5th May we held a Coronation Day at The Firs, and invited the children and staff to come dressed in red, white and blue to add to the fun and celebrations of such a special event.
The children have been spending some of their time over the last week making decorations, including bunting and posters, so that we could make the school hall look very royal and grand for lunchtime today, some also made crowns to wear.
The day started with a Coronation Assembly hosted by Mr Campbell. Martin Lees, our Premises Manager, played the piano as the children came into the hall, and we closed the assembly with our National Anthem.
The Ampthill Town Band came and played for us during lunchtime, based in our inner courtyard at the heart of the school, where they had an audience of children dancing and singing. They serenaded the children as they ate their fish, chips and mushy peas lunch, which was followed by a pudding of homemade cupcakes fittingly decorated for the occasion.
This has been a very exciting day for all involved, with the highlight of Ampthill Town Band creating such a lovely atmosphere over the lunchtime period. We were extremely lucky with the weather as it just turned as the band completed their performance.
