Maths Number Day at The Firs
All the children had loads of fun on the maths day using all the amazing ideas and planning produced by the NSPCC. Year 4 took part in Buddy’s Key Challenge, where they had to solve problems and answer questions to unlock clues to find Buddy’s location. They also did problem solving work using a videos from the BBC website and made times table wrist bands. Children in year 3 and Year 4 also took part in the Times Table Rock Stars Maths Day Challenge.
Year 3 children also enjoyed creating and playing Top Trumps working our which character won connected with the value of each attribute.
Year 2 had great fun creating a raise to show that multiplication is repeat addition.
Year R had an amazing time. They created our very own Tesco branch in the outdoor area for shopping activities. They enjoyed playing with spinners and recording the numbers they generated and had great fun playing snakes and ladders. In Year 1 we explored doubling. The children enjoyed bring creative, making their own ladybirds for our bug hotels. They gave each ladybird spots and doubled the number on their backs. We spent lots of time counting various things around our learning environment.
