Child Protection at The Firs
Safeguarding and Child Protection is a fundamental part of our caring approach to children at The Firs.
All our staff receive regular training (updates at least annually and in depth training bi-annually). Our safeguarding and child protection procedures can be found in our Safeguarding Policy and Guidelines below. It can also be found under our policies section on the website.
The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at The Firs Lower School is the Headteacher, Adam Campbell
The school has three Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs):
- Victoria Gamble - SEND-Co and Inclusion Manager
- Kerry Mercer - Assistant Headteacher and EYFS Leader
- Sue A’court - Office Manager and Lunchtime Senior Supervisor
The Designated staff work together on the School Safeguarding Team (SST). The SST meets every three weeks to share information, review procedures and paperwork and ensure the best outcomes for more vulnerable pupils.
In addition there are two members of staff who take responsibility for safeguarding and child protection, supported by the Safeguarding Designated Staff:
- Angie Dvorkin - Saplings Pre School Leader
- Debbie Davanna - Kids' Club Leader
The Governor responsible for Safeguarding is Annette Anderson
Both the DSL and DDSLs undergo regular training via the LSCB (local safeguarding children board and other providers).
More information can be seen in the School Child Protection Policy below (which can also be found in the Policies Page under the ‘School Information’ Tab along with many of our other supporting policies.)
